Sustainability statement

Without trying to get too heavy about it and remembering that on Exmoor we are fairly relaxed, we would like you to appreciate Exmoor as much as we do and we hope that you will help us. So as to try to keep Exmoor special we aim to conserve the natural habitats on our land for wildlife. We also wish to promote your enjoyment by suggesting walks, rides or, for the really fit, cycling in and around the National Park. Because of the diverse nature of local products and services we will always be more than happy to provide information or recommendations so that wherever possible the local economy will benefit.

As part of our effort to protect our environment we will try, wherever possible, to recycle and use sustainable sources of energy. We do not use any chemical fertilisers or poisons, relying solely on our chickens to keep the slug population down. The proceeds from the sale of their eggs go directly to Caremoor for Exmoor, a trust that helps provide amenities such as paths and RUPPs on Exmoor.

Our fostering programme in conjunction with the Moorland Mousie Trust is helping save the Exmoor Ponies, and we would be more than happy to allow you to help in our caring for the ponies, should you want.

In conjunction with Exmoor National Park we have created a nature reserve in our woodlands and similarly the flowers and shrubs around the cottages are grown with a view to providing nectar and larval food for butterflies and bees.
